Itransition

Itransition welcomes the approval of its near-term science-based emissions reduction target by the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi). As part of our company’s contribution to the creation of a low-carbon society, we commit to significantly reduce our value chain greenhouse gas emissions 2030.

Being an environmentally conscious company and a reliable service provider, Itransition takes action and contributes to environmental protection initiatives, as well as supports its clients and business partners' efforts in preventing climate change. As participants of the Science Based Targets initiative, we have committed to lower Scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions 51.6% per employee by 2030 compared to the 2022 base year.

Scope 3 emissions are one of the most challenging for ICT businesses to address but one of the most significant in the meantime. Consisting of indirect emissions occurring both upstream and downstream in a company's value chain, they account for a substantial part of the organisation's carbon footprint, which is hard to trace, report and control. Comprehensive collection and accurate reporting of this data usually entails transforming the company’s procurement processes, changing consumption patterns, and adjusting personnel incentives.  By carefully analysing the internal information and matching it with industry best practices, we came up with an approach which we believe will allow us to meet the ambitious targets we set for ourselves. Based on the insights uncovered, we implemented a systematic, repeatable, and trackable approach to preparing environmental reports.

For Itransition, the effort in this area signifies its commitment to sustainability and its recognition of the need for effective emission reductions to address climate challenges. Having our goals and figures validated by SBTi in January 2025, we are now sure that our activities are on the right track.

At Itransition, we view sustainability as not just a goal, but as a responsibility, and SBTi’s validation of our targets is a significant milestone in our dedication to climate action. Reducing indirect greenhouse gas emissions requires collective effort, and we are ready to hold ourselves accountable through accurate GHG emissions tracking and reporting, as well as are dedicated to working closely with our partners, suppliers, and stakeholders to bring about meaningful change. Committing to our emissions reduction target, we will continue making our operations more sustainable and ensure that our business growth aligns with a low-carbon future.

About Science Based Targets initiative

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a global organization that helps companies establish targets for greenhouse gas reduction based on the latest climate science. The organization provides companies with a framework to lower emissions in line with the Paris Agreement’s goal of lowering global warming to 1.5°C or well below 2°C. By adopting SBTi’s science-based targets, companies contribute to a low-carbon economy while also demonstrating accountability and driving sustainable innovations.

The initiative is the result of a collaboration between CDP, the UN Global Compact, WRI, and WWF. The SBTi organization helps participants ensure that their corporate climate commitments are credible and impactful by providing sector-specific guidance and validation services.
