Data Engineer (UK client)

Description

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer to help scale a growing BI platform in the real estate industry. In this role, you will design and build robust, high-performance data pipelines grounded in strong data modeling principles. You’ll join a highly skilled development team working with a modern, progressive technology stack, while also exploring emerging technologies, including AI and ML, to continuously enhance the platforms and services we deliver to our customers.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer
  • Strong proficiency in SQL
  • Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL/ELT pipelines
  • Solid knowledge of data modeling
  • Experience with at least one orchestration tool (Azure Data Factory preferred; SSIS, Apache Airflow, AWS Glue, Talend, or similar)
  • Experience with at least one relational database (Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, or DB2)
  • Ability to optimize and tune OLAP and OLTP queries
  • Experience working with cloud platforms (Microsoft Azure preferred)
  • Familiarity with Git 
  • Experience with Python & PySpark
  • Hands-on experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment
  • Upper-Intermediate English or higher (written and spoken)

Nice to have

  • Exposure to modern cloud data platforms and reporting tools (e.g. Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake, Power BI, Tableau)
  • Experience designing scalable, high-performance data architectures
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, and security best practices
  • Experience with NoSQL databases (Azure Cosmos DB, Mongo, Cassandra, etc.)
  • Experience with AI/ML data pipelines or analytics use cases
  • Experience with unit and integration testing
  • Experience working in the real estate or similar data-intensive domains

Responsibilities

  • Design and build ETL/ELT pipelines  
  • Optimize data workflows for performance, reliability, and maintainability 
  • Collaborate with BI analysts and stakeholders  
  • Write and optimize complex SQL & PySpark queries 
  • Implement data quality checks and monitoring to ensure data integrity 
  • Follow and promote data best practices and standards
