Seven Telematics is a UK-based manufacturer of Transcan Temperature Recorders ― the world's most widely used road transport monitoring devices. To stay ahead of competition, the company took a decision to extend the offered services and therefore to entrust Itransition with the development of the integrated online monitoring solutions:

  • 1. Web service with rich customization options;
  • 2. Mobile application that can be run on a smartphone or tablet.

These attributes not only provide competitive advantages to our customer, but also help eliminate distracted driving through less cab phone use, SMS and email alerts, driver panic alarms.


Two Stage Project

For project completion, Seven Telematics selected Itransition because of our background in custom software development for various monitoring services. First, our team created a web service to track the vehicle system metrics online. The successful project experience convinced our customer to entrust Itransition with the further development of mobile applications for iOS and Android seamlessly integrated with the web service.

Online service to easily access the monitoring data

Itransition developed an online service integrated with the customer’s processing software systems and serving as a data presentation portal to provide users with accurate up to the minute information in a convenient and easy to use format. Special attention was also paid to secure usage of the service and to prevention of the unauthorized access.

Personalized Customer Area

Users have the opportunity to monitor the vehicle metrics right from the Seven Telematics website user area. The solution visualizes the information collected by the back end software from navigation devices and sensors.

The service utilizes Seven Telematics CRM identifications and supports account management system, so that the customers are able to monitor only the vehicles associated with their accounts.

Each customer of Seven Telematics obtains a super-user login that allows creating and configuring additional user accounts if necessary, e.g. to restrict access to fleets monitoring or to a specific data.

Functionality Highlights

By default users have access to the following information provided by the online service: fuel reporting, driver timesheet analysis, productivity measurement, route analysis, vehicle audit trail and individual vehicle activity reports. The functionality of the solution is realized with the following modules:

  • Asset List allows multiple grouping and sorting options to facilitate the management of large fleets. Functionality provides the possibility to invoke the context menus hovering over asset icons or the map.
  • Fleet Tables (a point-in-time snapshot that shows the latest telemetry data for the fleet) and Fleet Metrics (data calculated over a user-defined time range for each asset) screens provide tabular views of the data, that can be filtered or sorted.
  • Reports module contains a set of standard reports that can be customized by users. Reports are sortable on any column and can be printed and exported to Excel and PDF.
  • Report Writer is simple but powerful tool for creating all the reports used within the Seven Eye website. It provides a variety of templates upon which reports can be designed. Large numbers of reports can be easily managed by grouping them within the user-defined folder structure.
  • Alerts module allows email and SMS alerts sent to customers in the case of various conditions occurring. History table gives details of prior alerts. The configuration can be made for whole fleets or for individual assets.
  • Waypoints are points on the map, that can be defined using either a postcode or latitude/longitude coordinates. They can be viewed, edited or created.
  • Admin module provides such important options as multiple fleets selection, a read-only and an imperial/metric options, and other user preferences that are set per user, and affect the way the data is shown in all parts of the Seven Eye website.
  • Google Maps API integration provides frequently updated world-wide mapping coverage for vehicle monitoring. In addition to displaying vehicle icons on their locations on the map Itransition team added several functional enhancements increasing service usability: pop-ups with current journey status and context menus that allow asset data to be viewed.

Mobile applications to track the telemetry on iOS and Android

Seven Eye mobile tracking apps were created for easy and convenient access to the telemetry on the move right from mobile devices. The applications are integrated with the web service via API.

Google Maps Integration

Google Maps API integration allows worldwide visual vehicle tracking. Users benefit from a full functionality of geographical mapping, including geofence zone tools.

Data Visualization

The data from vehicle temperature recording system is being visualized with charts and diagrams. The application also reflects the fuel rate during different driving regimes. The data is represented in circular diagram, segmented in accordance with the estimated percentage.

The custom visualization module was developed for better dynamic data graphic presentation.

Usage and events history

The history provides the data received by the ADR (Automatic Daily Recording) System and allows users to track back the data to find the information concerning the specific day, to track the patterns and to monitor the changes. With the calendar users have the opportunity to faster find the information for a relevant time period.

The applications are free for download from App Store and Google Play, where they are rated 5 out of 5 stars by most of the users.

The most valuable features of the application are those that provide rich functionality possibilities backed up with intuitive and attractive interface.


In the result of a long-term partnership with Itransition, our customer obtained reliable cost effective software that helped achieve the business objectives. The solution provides a valuable possibility to access the data from a PC or mobile devices fast and easy, though the data collecting is based on a highly sophisticated technology and processing system.
