Genesys Conferencing Extranet Solution

Microsoft.NET |SalesForce.com |Portal Solutions |Enterprise Information System

The project was initiated with the customer, leading provider of conferencing services (audio, video, web) across the globe, requesting to develop a web-based content management system for "extranets" – sites used to present its services and sign-up forms to its customers. Genesys manages hundreds of extranet sites, and the possibility to easily create new and maintain existing ones was very important. The system comprises several modules which are accessible through the same web-based interface.

  • Genesys Conferencing Extranet Solution

Genesys Extranet Builder is a web-based .NET application that uses Microsoft Content Management Server 2002 as its Content Management core engine. It comprises several modules (all modules are accessible through the same web-based interface):

  • Extranet creation module;
  • Translation module;
  • Deployment module;
  • Styles management;
  • Centralized content management;
  • Resources management;
  • Contacts management;

In addition, the application supports a flexible access control mechanism (control of particular objects, such as sites or pages), integrates with SalesForce.com CRM through Sforce Web Services API and performs automatic deployment of created sites to target (staging, production) platforms.

The application is integrated tightly with the corporate IT infrastructure, so that all existing data comes from these existing sources (user authentication is based on Windows Active Directory, all contract information is retrieved from Active Directory, etc.).

The application runs under Windows 2003 Server with Internet Information Services 6.0, the database used is Microsoft SQL Server 2000. The development process was Rational Unified Process, development and testing tools used are those included into Rational Development Suite.
