The goal of the project was to develop a stable, fast web application which supports a wide range of web browsers and media players. Itransition was able to meet and exceed the customer’s expectations by using innovative open-source high quality audio formats (FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec), OGG (Ogg Vorbis)), to provide the outstanding quality for bandwidth music using real-time streaming/ download.

The customer requested a Mobile Music Platform, which main concept would be as follows:
  • To present media content distribution platform for media content vendors;
  • To provide a wide range of media content for end-users, including web access to media data as well as access from mobile devices such as mobile phones;
  • To use innovative open-source high quality audio formats( FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec), OGG (Ogg Vorbis)), to provide outstanding quality for bandwidth music using real-time streaming/download.
A Java mobile client was developed to provide access to user media profile from a mobile phone. The project included API implementation for interaction with external tools of media content providers. Frameworks for web and mobile applications were developed to fit the envisioned business models and the customer requirements. The web framework included a sound converter engine providing music files conversions between FLAC, OGG, MP3 formats.

  • Private Catalogue Browsing – consumer can browse his private catalogue on-line from his mobile phone.
  • Musical Content Download – consumer can download any song into his private catalogue in mp3 format directly to mobile phone persistent memory.
Web Portal is a J2EE web application based on open source Java technologies. Moblie Client is a J2ME mobile application based on MIDP 2.0 technology. J2ME Polish open-source tool was used to provide high quality user interface. Target platforms for Mobile application are: SonyEricsson on UIQ3 platform, Nokia S60 series.
