The system is a client–server application for Windows OS for LAN at location’s office. However, due to elaborated TCP/IP design of the transport layer, the system is easily deployable on wide area network as well. The rich user interface is built upon Infragistics NetAdvantage package. The installation and upgrades of the applications are done with the wizards, created with the help of InstallShield. The PDA clients were designed to work offline with online synchronizations with the main system.
The ERP system features the followign modules:
- Customer Relationship Management – the module which combines the functions of managing customer contacts, addresses, communications, phone logs and notes, including internal mail box and instant alerts. This module also covers the customer’s price lists, summary and other relative information.
- Estimating Module – the functions for the job estimating and budget contracting are covered by this module. It also includes proposals preparations and work breakdown.
- Schedule and Dispatch Modules – are responsible for proper scheduling the jobs, calculating the location’s capacities and creating the forecasts, showing alerts on customer’s billing status, handling the job’s projection and resource assignments, printing the driving directions an work orders specifics, and finalizing materials and labor distributions.
- Price Lists and Inventory - the modules which ultimately handle the warehouse management, vendor relations, including but not limited to forecasting and AR/AP invoicing and Sales/Purchase Orders.
- Timekeeping and Payroll – manage the employees’ time records, piece rates, sales commissions and pay checks.
- Accounting – the functions of Accounts Receivable as well as synchronization with several accounting systems are built into the system
- PDA – the mobile clients of the main application which allow employees to handle the on-site assessments, etc.
Technologies used: Microsoft .Net 1.1, Microsoft SQL Server, PDA, Infragstics NetAdvantage as GUI components.
Efforts: 85 man-months.
