eSourcing Project Rescue Service
Alphabetically; Procurement Industry; By Service; Project Rescue

Online eSourcing system development was originally started by an Indian software vendor. It had been developed for more than three years but overall project result turned out to be completely unsatisfying. The initial customer request was to recover application source code and then perform functional development on top of this.

The initial project state before Itransition started was as follows:

  • Our customer did not actually own application sources, either the product specifications;
  • Low quality of the product;
  • Lack of requirements specifications;
  • Two product branches were developed separately.

As a result of the thorough investigation and analysis, Itransition proposed the following plan of project rescue:

  • Recover the application source code (only binary files were available on target platforms);
  • Source application codes analysis;
  • Improvements list and functional modules development;
  • Organization problems elimination.

As a result, the customer received the initial product version, with a possibility to plan the crucial product improvements required by end-users.

The second phase brought in the most important product improvements, which had been delayed for months due to the broken development process. Phase two resulted in product release that was vital for the customer to exist since business activities were fully dependent on the product and could not be delivered without it.

After this Itransition eliminated the other negative product issues with documentation, requirements management, change request management. This resulted in transparent, predictable and manageable project flow.
